{"id":40,"date":"2009-05-18T17:37:50","date_gmt":"2009-05-18T17:37:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.micah.de\/blog\/?p=40"},"modified":"2018-05-06T16:50:20","modified_gmt":"2018-05-06T16:50:20","slug":"mirror-neuron-initial-thinking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.micah.de\/?p=40","title":{"rendered":"Mirror Neuron initial thinking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The idea of &#8220;mirror neurons&#8221; seems false to me when opposed to the idea that standard neuron network can<br \/>\nproduce the same mirroring effect:<\/p>\n<p>If, say, taring a paper is a combine sensory experience of touch resistance, sound and visual stimuli,<br \/>\nthe brain will have a network that stands for this concept.<\/p>\n<p>If this network is highly trained\/associated, then only one part has to become active (ie hearing a paper tare,<br \/>\nor seeing another person tare a piece of paper) to activate the associated neurons in the network.<\/p>\n<p>Recent study (Dinstein I, 2008, 2008) propose that mirror neurons don&#8217;t exist and that firing in those regions<br \/>\ndue to other processes.<\/p>\n<p>The human infant brain uses &#8220;mirroring&#8221; to an effect before 12 months of Age. This indicates to me that<br \/>\nthe connections that form &#8220;concepts&#8221; in our brain are still developing at that age and can change and modify<br \/>\nquickly during that period.<\/p>\n<p>More and more I seem to believe in an almost 2 stage learning process in the brain. The first is the<br \/>\ngrowth of primary &#8220;loose&#8221; connections between neighbouring neurons. The second is the growth of longer<\/p>\n<p># ^ Dinstein I, Gardner JL, Jazayeri M, Heeger DJ.
